RENAÎTRE

The hands of Renè, as soon as they touch the piano keys, stop trembling. the turbulent shaking transforms into calm as the mind frees itself, allowing space for creative improvisation. each performance is a rebirth to a new life: the trembling elder becomes a young dance. this continuous physical and mental rebirth inspired the photographic project rebirth. the projection of the music video “orbs”, where the rain captured in ramses’ photographs comes to life through renè’s video editing, created a soft and free environment. once again, the “water container” offers a sense of freedom that allows the protagonists to embark on a journey of physical, spiritual, and cultural rebirth in constant evolution, narrated through the following images

ORBS

Orb defines an optical effect consisting of small spheres or luminous globes.
The intense light emitted by the flash hits particles in the air that have a shape similar to a
sphere. The light rays emitted by the lamp strike the outer surface of the particles on the side
facing the camera, reflecting a large portion of it and expanding the area
according to a cone in which each ray has a reflection angle double compared to the angle between the incident ray and the normal to the surface of the particle.
René Val Hensdigen, a Dutch musician and artist suffering from severe Parkinson’s, created a
music video using the photographic work “Orbs” by Ramses van Veldhuisen.
The video lasts 15 minutes and was created through meticulous efforts, with the artist
creating an endless series of layers in Photoshop, allowing the water droplets captured in Ramses’ photographs to come to life. It took years to complete due to constant and violent hand tremors.
The images were modified so that the position of each figure in the photograph
changed 20 times per second.
